Everyone has heard of Drunk Dialing but anyone ever try Drunk Emailing....
------
Ignore this. Sorry to bother you, but I'm drunk right now and can't help myself. I can't talk worth shit right now but unfortunately I can't stop thinking. Sober I'm silent as night but drunk I compelled to speak.
I not trying to hook up as every man that says hello to you wants, I've had too much alcohol to care about that now, I just wanted to say I think your god dam beautiful and every man you grace is lucky.
...And no matter what motherfuckers have done to you..., and as awsome you are or could be (after all I don't know you), motherfuckers will use you, but don't give up hope. Love comes from within, it's rarely two ways. so embrace what you can, males are stupid mutherfuckers and females aren't that far behind for loving them. But at least females have more courage to try. Men are too afraid to be weak.
If you ever see my drunk ass, give me a kiss on the cheek, a hug, and say a prayer at the end of the night, I'll need it.
You think women have it hard, think about what guys that try to be good go through. Punished every step of the way. Men are punished for being good. The good ones sadly are never found in time, they always break, on both sides, male and female. For that's that is curse of being human.
Ignore me or feel free to cuss my ass out, if your honest it all good. I'm just another stupid motherfucker ducking his head in the sand.
Sleep... thank you for bearing all that....
God bless.

Man into Machine
It is all too clear to me that the evolution of our species will include our transformation into cybernetic and completely artificial beings.
Our need for immortality will be achieved through cloning and brain backups of a persons mind. Eventually brain backups will be able to be fully simulated artificially. As the hardware becomes more sophisticated people will upload their minds while their physical brain is suspended in a coma state into which afterward they will be able to download back into after their virtual existence. Artificial hardware will become so sophisticated that a person will live thousands of years worth of thought, contemplation, and virtual experiences in the hours a person would normally sleep.
Eventually there will be a revolution as people spurn their physical bodies for a pure virtual existence. And eventually those minds will desire to give birth to origional virtual minds. Pure minds might even desire to merge into combined entities. An existence of pure through and imagination is not that for away.
Much the same way we spoil the physical world, we will eventually shun our bodies for a spiritual existence.

I hate the ice cream man
Every weekend while I struggle to get my ass out of bed after a night on the town that dam ice cream man comes by. I think there is a conspiracy. Every time I hear the bell I try to grab some shoes or sandles, were talking 10 to 15 seconds at the most and by that time the ice cream man is halfway down the street. Sometimes they will come by three times a day. I'm not going to go running down the street running like a mad man waving my arms. I wonder if they actually want to sell any ice cream.... It might be a covert marketing ploy by drug stores...

Time to reinstall XP
It's that time again. Every six months or so. This time it's because I'm pretty sure some DVD installed some copy protection malware and it's interfering with a game I just bought. I don't own a TV, I rent and buy movies and TV series seasons and watch them on my computer screen. I'm getting patterns on video that kind of looks like braille and on games it so small it looks like static. I can't find any mention of it on the net so a reinstall is necessary; I'm just draging my feet to do it.

New Wiki - Education
I always think up stuff and shortly there after other people come to the same conclusions but implement them. With the take off of Wikipedia I think the time has come for an educational wiki to take off. It would probably focus on the sciences and mathimatics as they are less controversial. A wiki is a completely different animal than a standard text book being that it's multi authored and it's one huge hypertext document spanning all topics in a field of study. Instead of a textbook on chemestry it would be more like an encyclopedia of chemistry but far more readable. It's a great way to learn a topic as it's non linear.

The Female Species
Time and time again I am disipointed. Why do I even bear hope... I'm probably the only man in LA that actually believes in soul mates. True love shouldn't take much effort, it should just come easily and naturally. The right place at the right time, etc..., and just take off like a wild fire. I am such an a f'ing fatalist. To be accepted and loved as I am...
Let me just say it; women at least in LA are total sluts. They falls for words instead of actions and intent. Total sellouts.
I doubt I really believe it but friends tell me all the time I could be such a total player. So why? Why am I so female? Why do I actually lust only for love? Why does the mere thought of kissing turn me on? Why am I what most women pretentiously portray themselves as? Why am I so cursed?

Stuffed
God I'm stuffed. I had a couple stiff drinks but mostly I've just been eating all day. Must have spent like $40 or so. But I feel so much better after last night. Why is everyone out to tick me off all of a sudden? All I want is hard satisfying work, good friends that don't overreact to stupid things you say sometimes, and a nice girl to wrap my arms around as I fall asleep. Is that too much to ask for?

The Good Girl/Bad Girl Bullshit...
I'm probably the only guy in the world that thinks this is stupid. I'm probably also the only guy in LA that isn't screwing women left and right and that wants a relationship; someone that likes me for me (ok that and screwing like rabbits every other day). If your a guy out there screwing around even a little bit you know that women have screwed around no matter what they say. Every woman has a few wild periods. A woman that claims to have never had a one night stand is an assumed liar or is working from a deficit in my book, better if she said nothing on the subject. But for some reason that lie turns on most men and makes them want to pursue a woman for a relationship.
Unlike most men I can't divorce my emotional feeling from my sexual desire. I can be intimate with someone I don't care for but it makes me care for them. As I start feeling emotionally attached to a woman my sexual desire for her steadily increases to the point where I feel like I'll go crazy just being around her. Yet I can go without sex for long periods of time if I'm not involved with anyone.
Unless a woman shows a mutual interest in me from the first time I show interest it's like a million points deducted as far prospects for a long term relationship; from that point on it's just a casual thing. The last thing I want to think about as far as someone I love is that she screwed other men at first sight but I wasn't good enough. If she's really pretty or interesting I might play the game a while but all games get tired; any chance for anything real ended the moment the game started.
Granted I won't ask a woman the first night and I've never had a one night stand (it's believable in my case since only an idiot male like myself would admit that publicly). Flings yes, one night stands - no. No wonder the majority of relationships are disastrous, it's all based on lies. A woman makes up her mind roughly five minutes after meeting you. If it's serious she'll go for it, if not she's just playing games. Most men like that game. But I don't...

Purgatory
I have calmed down but now I'm philosophical. First off I'm agnostic but I like to dwell on morality and religion.
We will all be judged? But what does that mean though? Is there anything between good and evil?
What if your a moral person but you just lose it. You fully know your going to commit a mortal sin but you just can't hold back? What if you knew that no matter what your would commit the sin over and over, you couldn't hold back? If you commit a sin in your heart then your guilty without doing it.
If you believe in good and evil... Kill a person, kill fifty, a thousand, a million? If you believe then is there a point of no return? What happens when you know your evil and there is no salvation? Do you embrace evil? Can you love god and fight against him?

I'm homicidal
I've lost faith in my fellow man. I've given myself a week timeout so I don't kill anyone. My mind keeps drifting off imagining various torture senerios for the culpret...
Taking a deep breath. Repeat after me, civilized people don't castrate others, cililized people don't castrate...
To be civilized or not to be civilized... that is the question!
Yay though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will feal no evil... and all that other bullshit.
Can't I love those that do me wrong after I castrate them?
Oh where oh where is a woman to remind me of all the nice beautiful things in life... A charming thing that with just a smile can humble me and make me forget all the bad things...

Tech - AMD 4x4 Sockets - The Answer to the Cell Processor
I've been reading up on processor architectures today and it has me thinking about the new 4x4 socket motherboards. Essentially these are duel processor motherboards. For games, which is the majority of it's market and gaurantees it to sell, it will be used to support 4 cores and 4 graphics cards. Hence the design name 4x4.
But I remember in articles AMD citing the possibility of coprocessors such as a physics processors and while nothing prevents third parties from producing such chips I don't really see a large number of possible vendors. But I would bet that AMD itself is going to release a coprossor. And I'm suggesting that that coprocessor is a specific responce to the cell processor. I remember in an article them mentioning the socket as a new vehicle before possibly integrating such functionality directly into it's CPU packages. A coprocessor with a bunch of vector processing units would be a perfect proof of concept as well as giving developers a means to use the technology without AMD commiting an unproven and unused architecture and instruction set into their expensive processor packages.
Vector processing units are called that for lack of a better name because that is their most obvious use, but not their only. They are complete RISC processors in all respects except they are not autonimous and are designed to be controlled by another processor. There are highly optimized though for specific computational operations. For example the cell processor with eight VPU's gives phynominal single precission floating point operations but only only (!) 3 times the preformance with double procission as compared to the main CPU.

Tech - WinFS
Microsoft isn't going to incorporate it into Vista but I've been trying to get a fundamental concept of the idea today and I'm all but shocked they didn't implement this simple "idea" sooner because it really is simple. It can run on top of a Hierarchical File System(Files and Folders) or generate one on the fly.
Making it simple, understandable, and usable depends on the Graphical Interface. It's all based on keywords. Furthermore it actually makes security much easier and automatic to implement. You simply assign keywords to files. In the interface you can type them in or drag and drop them. The basics: Program, Data. When you install a program it gets the keywords "Program" and it's application name as a keyword. Save a file and it's key the tags "Data" and the application name. Use the label private and it gets security and encryption applied. If it's a picture it gets the picture tag. I figure most people will have about 10 keywords personal tags and a bunch of application tags. Overall a very simple system.

Next Big Internet Phenominon
I have ideas all the time and 99% of them occur because for the most part they can't not occur. The newest idea is a website database that would tell you how to vote in your own interest. Sure there is a widespread margin for political abuse but I can't see it not occurring. There are simply too many variables for one person to calculate so voting advisers are inevitable for all but the most hard core political junkies which read the congressional minutes. Think of it as a political stats and cheet sheet that lays out your bottom line.

The Value of a Drink
The Value of a Drink
----------
"Sometimes when I reflect back on all the wine I drink I feel shame. Then I look into the glass and think about the workers in the vineyards and all of their hopes and dreams. If I didn't drink this wine, they might be out of work and their dreams would be shattered. Then I sayto myself, "It is better that I drink this wine and let their dreams come true than be selfish and worry about my liver."
~ Jack Handy
WARNING: The consumption of alcohol may leave you wondering what the hell happened to your bra and panties.

"I feel sorry for people who don't drink. When they wake up in the morning, that's as good as they're going to feel all day. "
~ Frank Sinatra
WARNING: The consumption of alcohol may create the illusion that you are tougher, smarter, faster and better looking than most people.

"When I read about the evils of drinking, I gave up reading."

And saving the best for last, as explained by Cliff Clavin,of Cheers. One afternoon at Cheers, Cliff Clavin was explaining the Buffalo Theory to his buddy Norm. Here's how it went...
"Well ya see, Norm, it's like this... A herd of buffalo can only move as fast as the slowest buffalo. And when the herd is hunted, it is the slowest and weakest ones at the back that are killed first. This natural selection is good for the herd as a whole, because the general speed and health of the whole group keeps improving by the regular killing of the weakest members. In much the same way, the human brain can only operate as fast as the slowest brain cells. Excessive intake of alcohol, as we know, kills brain cells. But naturally, it attacks the slowest and weakest brain cells first. In this way, regular consumption of beer eliminates the weaker brain cells, making the brain a faster and more efficient machine. That's why you always feel smarter after a few beers."
WARNING: The consumption of alcohol may make you think you are whispering when you are not.

Nerd Madness - The AMD and ATI Merger...
I'm still scratching my head trying to figure it all out. AMD just pissed on the gamers market. AMD just doesn't have it to wage war on two fronts. This ultimately means that ATI will slow down it video R&D. ATI will still be a player in the market but expect it to focus on the "consumer and business" value and mid range markets. nVidia will be happy with the slowed down pace and will finally be able to reap some profit out of the graphics market and focus on the high end market. nVidia will continue to produce chipsets for AMD to support it's high end video products.
I must admit the first thing that came to mind when I heard this was that AMD wanted both it's own chipset/motherboard designers, which ATI has much experience with, and that it wanted to integrate low end graphics on it's chipsets and to create processor/chipset/graphics integrated products. The more silicon produced the greater the economy of scale will be. So their is more bang for the buck in running their own foundry and it gives them a lot more clout when it comes to dealing with independent chip foundries.
---
I still think that the future design of consumer and workstation computers will be something akin to short blade servers. Basically the motherboard becomes more like a back plane with various common I/O devices and control logic and the processor and memory will move off onto it's own processor card. Devices and processor cards will plug into the same type of slots; of course some motherboards will more higher capacity slots just like we now have some motherboards with 2 x16 PCI-Express slots. The graphics card just becomes a specialized processor card on par with a general CPU card.
So in a sense AMD just bought another co processing CPU architecture. It's easy then to imagine graphics houses buying up machines with one CPU card and all the other slots being filled with graphics processing cards.
---
P.S. And since a GPU is now akin to a CPU architecture, I'm not positive now, but I strongly suspect that Linux, BSD and other operating-systems can expect full hardware specs on video chips so that they can write their own drivers within the year. AMD is a lot more open and they have bigger things to worry about than writing video drivers for lots of little operating systems.

Loved Superman Returns
While I can understand how people might be bored expecting an all out action movie, Superman III+IV were comedy and action movies and that's why they sucked, especially IV. Superman fundamentally is and always shall be a human story. So for Superman Returns they pretend III and IV never happened. Superman Returns is technically Superman III.
Superman gave up his powers in Superman II so that he could have a normal human relationship with Lois Lane. Both to be devoted to her and not go off saving the world all the time (hence equal) and to have sex. But it's never that easy. Zod shows up and the world needs Superman. He is mankind's hope. He gives up his personal happiness to be the hero that he is. Hence he is the worlds savior.
(BTW I have to give props to the TV series for addressing the sex issue, imagine Superman getting some and then in the heat of the moment bam!, "Oh $..!+, sorry for breaking your pelvis honey". Sure he could have sex but he could never really let go and have at it and lose himself in the passion of the moment.)
Anyway, after that movie astronomers discover the supposed location of star where superman came from and Superman goes in search of signs of survivors from his destroyed home world. It's a two year journey one way and hence by the time he gets back it's been five years.
He left to find someone like him, to not feel so alone. To not feel the weight of the world squarely on his shoulders. And by the end of the movie he finds out he isn't alone. He finds the very person and purpose he has been looking for here on earth.
The script might have been better but to you can't satisfy everyone. The movie is primarily a rebirth and foundation for more movies. The big problem for me was everyone looking so young, specifically Lois but let me say she is way prettier than Margo Kitter ever was.
I've always wondered about Superman's powers. I think his powers and abilities are not strength (though he is very strong) but rather the ability to warp the laws of physics. Specifically if you think in "Star Trek" terms he has... the ability to change the mass of an object (i.e. "inertial dampening" and magnifying). He can impart "structural integrity", so if he carries someone flying at supersonic speed they won't burn up from friction or freeze to death and he can lift cars by their roofs without necessarily ripping off the canopy, or why his clothes don't get torn up too badly even if they are a super advanced material. As far as his X-ray vision and heat vision he is sensing and affecting subatomic particles maybe in ways similar to his inertial and integrity abilities.
As far as X-ray vision he doesn't generate X-rays as that would actually be lethal. More than likely he might be affecting neutrinos or another subatomic particle to artificially increase their mass in a harmless way such that they give off infrared radiation when they collide with ordinary matter which he can see and detect. Whatever radiation superman is projecting it would have mass and behave like X-rays and hence lead would be too dense.
To fly he isn't generating anti gravity but rather gripping the fabric of space in some special way. If he did generate anti gravity then lifting something like the artificial island the size of New Jersey in the latest film or moving something like the moon would affect earths orbit. It would also mean he could only push up and not sideways or down. Not to say that he couldn't produce artificial gravity but for flying there is just more to it than that.
Lastly he gets his powers from the yellow sun. By and large we are not really talking about visible light (except for maybe a small portion) but rather his powers come from subatomic particles like neutrino which are produced in a sun. A red sun is a colder star than a yellow star, so it is entirely possible that back on Krypton Superman's people still had the same abilities but they just weren't as profound.
For all we know Krypton might have been a white dwarf (dead star, extremely dense, extreme gravity) circling a red star, hence an inherent ability to modify the laws of physics would be vital.
Superman gave up his powers in Superman II so that he could have a normal human relationship with Lois Lane. Both to be devoted to her and not go off saving the world all the time (hence equal) and to have sex. But it's never that easy. Zod shows up and the world needs Superman. He is mankind's hope.

New Bar Tonight - Sinners and Saints
Going to try some hip bar up the street tonight. I must admit I like the name but it's supposedly very small. We'll see.
Useless Trivia - Subway BMT
I am happy to finally be able to say that the BMT sandwitch stand for the Brooklyn-Mannhattan Transfer, a section of the New York subway system named after the private company (Brooklyn-Mannhattan Transit) that owned the subway system before the city of New York took it over. Probably also has some city neighborhood connotations as far as the ingredients as relates to the cultures of that section of New York and subway now being politicly correct now says it stands for "Biggest, Meanest, Tastiest".
Civil Liberties
'There's no way to rule [over] innocent men. The only power any government has is the power to crack down on criminals. Well, when there aren't enough criminals, one makes them. One declares so many things to be a crime that it becomes impossible for men to live without breaking laws. Who wants a nation of law-abiding citizens? What's there in that for anyone? But just pass the kind of laws that can neither be observed nor enforced nor objectively interpreted - and you create a nation of law-breakers - and then you cash in on guilt. Now that's the system, Mr. Rearden, and once you understand it, you'll be much easier to deal with'.

Procrastination - The root of it for me
Both of these resonate with me...
The fear of successful achievement in school leading to underachievement has already been described in great detail in the last section on motivation. (1) Such a student may avoid trying in school for fear of doing well...and then being expected to continue to achieve, be responsible, leave home or friends, and be mature. That is so scary that they hide their ambition, act like they don't care, and may really want to do poorly. (2) Likewise, other students may avoid being successful for fear they will lose friends or become a threat to others. It is commonly thought that "men don't like women who are too smart...or can beat them in tennis." Some conservative people may also be uncomfortable if a woman were successful in a masculine role--executive, pilot, priest--or if a man were successful in a feminine role--nurse, hair stylist, homemaker. (3) Others refuse to give up procrastinating and refuse to strive for success for fear of becoming a workaholic...or of becoming arrogant, competitive, demanding, or boring and isolated socially. They may feel that work is endless, that it will never be done. (4) A few procrastinators may fear success because they'd feel guilty, as though they didn't deserve it...or "I'd be an entirely different person, I'd have to admit I'm capable, I'd lose my identity."
A second version of the anxiety-based procrastinator is afraid of failing. (1) Of course, if we are self-critical and feel inferior, we will avoid doing many things, especially competitive activities. Not trying is a form of failure but not as painful as actually trying and failing. (2) If you have set very high or impossible goals--like a perfectionist, you are likely to feel overwhelmed. Perhaps that is why, strange as it seems, perfectionist procrastinators often have low confidence in their ability. By procrastinating, such a person avoids, for the moment, the dreaded expected failure (and guarantees doing poorly in the long run). (3) If you dread finding out just how able you are (and having others find out too!), it might seem wiser to put off putting yourself to the test than to run the risk of trying one's best and only being average. This is especially crucial if you believe a person is more worthwhile and lovable if he/she is real smart or talented. Procrastination, in this special case, may enable us to believe we are superior in ability (while another part of us fears being inferior), regardless of our performance. So, as you can see, procrastination may strengthen a person's feelings of inferiority or superiority.

Tech Idea (Nerds Only) - Proxy Win Update
You know that automatic update feature of XP? What if it were rerouted by a firewall to a proxy? A sys admin could then review all updates as well as add his own... It would also be a neat way to schedule and deploy virus checks as well as other automated admin tasks.
Undoubtedly XP must use digital signatures for the mechanics but there is always a way. Maybe alternatively it's time to create a windows update application not controlled by Microsoft.
P.S. For all the criminals and terrorists (i.e. anyone Bush or his friends don't like) Microsoft is in their back pocket. I'd be willing to bet money (if it were possible to verify) that Microsoft facilitates the installation of spyware through windows update on a targeted basis; bugging a specific computer much the same as bugging a specific phone line. Forget not that bush declared truce in the MS antitrust case after the battle had already been won.

Go Figure - Women
Why is it that when you show honest emotional interest they run away like your damaged goods? Yet when you come up to them and stick your tongue in their ear they are all over you and a week later planning the wedding...

Being Too Hygienic is Bad
I knew it. A theory of mine is currently being confirmed in research studies.
Send the kids out to play in the dirt and you'll be doing them a favor. Exposure to small amounts of environmental toxins during childhood strengthens a persons immune system. Keep them in a sanitized environment and they are far more likely to develop allergies to harmless environmental substances.
And I'm pretty sure they will soon discover women exposed to natural levels of environmental toxins (country girls) have healthier children with fewer allergies due both to exposure during fetal development and exposure from mothers milk after birth. A mother passes an immunological cheat sheet to her child. So if her immune system is weak so will her child's be.
Of course it's no reason to have poor hygiene. It just another example of too much of a good thing is actually bad.

Drag racing ice cream man
What the heck is up with the ice cream vendors on my block? As soon I hear the alluring ice cream bell I grab my wallet and run outside. Takes me no more than about 10 seconds at worst. I run out the door and he's either halfway down the block or tuned the corner. A man pushing an ice box shouldn't be able to move that fast! He's nothing more than an ice cream tease I tell you!

Making Internet Gambling Illegal...
What the big deal is with stopping Internet gambling I just don't know. Just make gamblers themselves not responsible for their losses. The gamblers that overextend themselves will themselves come forward to get their money back and their money will be refunded to them though whichever bank or credit card processed the transaction. The burden then is on the gambling sites to not do business with individuals that are not legally responsible for gambling debts.
Storage Condo's?
Just had a great idea. Both the price of property and rent are sky high in LA. And storage units cost a fortune too. Everyone in LA pretty much moves regularly. So what if people actually could buy storage space like a condo? About fifty to a hundred miles outside LA is farm and desert country so the land would be cheap to develop for a business. If you owned the rental unit then the only cost of moving is the rental truck and gas. You know you would use it. Besides, units here are so small we need some place to store all the crap we collect over the years.

Lonely
Hard days work. I worked all day in the sun and I'm beat red and tired. I would give almost anything at this moment to have a girlfriend to spoon and fall asleep with right now. To smell her shanpoo and lingering perfume. The sound of her breathing. The smoothness of her skin with my arm wrapped around her. Holding her to my heart forever... to dream...

Hard Work Does Not Pay
Friday night I was on the promenade waiting on a truck to unload. A pretty girl came out of no where and uncased her guitar and started singing. She had a very pretty voice but what stuck me was she was out there, doing it. She had such courage. I had very little money and was ashamed I could only toss in a couple dollars. She sang out in the cold night air for a couple hours and probably only made about eight dollars total, less than minimum wage. There are drug addicts on the street and crazy homeless people that make $200 a day begging; way more than either of us made. And when I come home and check my inbox I find at least 5 bands have spammed my inbox as well as probably hundreds if not thousands of others. But she was out there doing it.

Computers are taken way too Seriously
Do you have any idea how easy it would be for me to access your computer and plant evidence that would get you thrown in jail? Granted I don't do it every day so I couldn't do it overnight but I could probably come up with a fairly undetectable scheme in a couple weeks.
I could plant evidence of anything from credit card scams and identity theft to child pornography. And the vast majority of people are so ignorant of how vulnerable computers are everyone automatically assumes the charges are true since it's on a computer.
We have all heard the story of how this or that government official got caught with child porn on his computer. But do you realize we are talking about a government official which inevitably has enemies that might want him pushed out or disgraced. Files on a computer mean nothing. The only real evidence is catching a person sitting in front of the computer while he is committing the act.
With bush and the right wingers clamoring about cracking down on civil liberties under the guise of protecting children, it scares me. Sounds to me like pedophiles are being groomed as witches in a new witch hunt. It's too horrific a crime so we'll presume he's guilty until he proves himself innocent. We are talking children here! No red blooded American would dare put a child at risk over something as trivial as civil liberties!

Genetics and Alien Life
Anywhere from 200 to a 1000 years from now natural selection will come to a halt for humans. Ironically intelligent design will replace it. If that isn't funny then I don't know what is. Sure there will still be random procreation but all mutations and defective genes will be eliminated and replaced. And enhanced genes will be introduced. There being only so much we can imagine it seems quite logical that we will still rely on nature to surprise us with novelty and take from it only that which we find useful. I imagine it would be quite likely that in the future that when we are able to travel to other planets we will terraform some and introduce life there only to let it develop like a wild garden. We will even likely create a primate species similar to ourselves to see what evolution produces in them. This is more than mere speculation, I just can't see it not happening. But I have to wonder thinking about all the alien abduction stories, if some are true, could earth not be a wild genetic garden for aliens?
Speaking of aliens and alien life, what would impress me most about space travel is not meeting another intelligent species. It would be seeing all the diverse ecosystems on other planets. It boggles the mind to think of all the creatures, plants, and life forms we can't imagine that must exist now. Quite probably, right this very instant, on some planet, there exists huge dinosaur like creatures. If that isn't an awesome thought I don't know what is.

Advice for all the Hollywood Wannabe's
There are people out here that will kill for speaking roles. No one comes out here and just makes it no matter how talented they are. Before the advent of the digital camera, photographers use to be able to make a living out here just doing head shots just to give you a clue as to how many attractive-talented and slit-your-throat determined people we are talking about. No one ever gets a role from a casting couch in multi million dollar movies, that's why casting directors exist, you fuck anyone and everyone in hopes that they will remember you.
Your best and only chance is to join a group and do indie films. This is where you actually have to contribute a couple grand to the cost of making the movie yourself and as a consequence will actually take an interest in production and writing and get a clue about the profession.
Oh well, out for now, I'm in the mood for a bike ride and a philly cheese steak for lunch.

Paranoia
Wild crazy thought.
The United States has never been closer to a takeover. If certain people in power were to decide to detonate a nuclear bomb in this country and blame terrorism then elections would probably be suspended until the threat of terrorism is eliminated which means never.
The real reason we have a right to bear arms, is so we can quickly build an informal army aka a militia and (though it's not explicitly stated) to theoretically make a revolution possible when the number of people dissatisfied reaches a critical mass. Militias of the people, by the people, and for the people.
But these aren't colonial times. If the reins of power were seized there is no imaginable way citizens could rise up when whole cities and armies can be destroyed in seconds.
These are interesting times.

Women are like...
Women are like apples on trees. The best ones are at the top of the tree. Most men don't want to reach for the good ones because they are afraid of falling and getting hurt. Instead, they sometimes take the apples from the ground that aren't as good, but easy. The apples at the top think something is wrong with them, when in reality, they're amazing. They just have to wait for the right man to come along, the one who's brave enough to climb all the way to the top of the tree.
Now Men.... Men are like a fine wine. They begin as grapes, and it's up to women to stomp the shit out of them until they turn into something acceptable to have dinner with.

Poetry
I close my eyes, and forget for a while. I cease to think, and just watch life pass by. I move my feet, but they have no direction. I move, but have no meaning. when do i stop and figure it out. when do I stop and just let it go. My head is always filled with thoughts that are bigger then me. With problems, I have no solutions for. With questions, I want no answers for. So why all the thoughts, why all the questions, Can't remember, Just want to forget. just want to forget. Just want to be.

Tech: The Microsoft vs Mac vs Unix wars are over.
Long live them all. Virtual hardware acceleration is about to take hold. It's a little know technology that's going to revolutionize the desktop as well as it already has the server. Forget about arguments pro or against one operating system or another, you can use them all at the same time if you want to now. And some companies like Microsoft may initially fight it because it virtually eliminates monopoly dominance but they will see the light since it actually guarantees more copies of their software sold. If it's useful, customers will buy it and use it alongside anything else that wish to; no more either-or.
Apple does windows! I really wish I had a truckload of money to invest in Apple and right now because they are going to triple their hardware sales in the next three to four years. For apple and their recent switch to Intel processors, future products will be able to run both OS X and Windows simultaneously. Sure people will be able to use OS X on generic PC hardware but apple only supports it's hardware which virtually guarantees that the average user that really wants Apple comparability and software will spend the extra money on Apple hardware. Apple will be just like a designer brand of hardware that users in companies will all covet. Since it also runs windows, no one will be fired for purchasing Apple (just like the old IBM saw).
I also envision the emergence of specialty operating systems designed especially for video games and media with DRM (digital rights madness) as well as elimination of the GUI from products like windows server. Window will obviously be the leading game platform but their is nothing to prevent another Game OS from emerging. In fact it more than likely given that Operating systems no longer have to be everything and do everything for everyone. Now Operating System can be application specific. For example a GameOS doesn't really face the same security concerns as say a file server or an Internet browser and email client.
Vista will probably be the last traditional version of windows that is developed. Windows Server can actually be slimmed down and become a console less VM application. You just connect to it over a virtual or actual network connection with management tools. If you really need a GUI you install windows workstation in another VM. Because of this I actually expect windows server to become much faster and competitive with Unix. As far as windows workstation I expect to see it spin itself off in multiple VM's and segregate applications according to security. You manage your data in one VM and surf and download files from the Internet in another. And Microsoft will no longer have to worry about perfect backward compatibility since users can run older operating systems simultaneously if they really need to; hence it's operating systems will get simpler and faster.
Another good investment now is in memory companies because each virtual machine requires it's own memory and with the average person running two or three operating systems that potentially would require three times the normal memory. There is going to be a short term shortage.

Could AMD be the next Sony?
I'm starting to wonder if companies don't buy into AMD's ideas if AMD couldn't become a retail brand of it's own. Specifically it's obviously in a position to create a game and entertainment platform of it's own. Same with music players, portable games systems, or even cell phones. They have all the talent to do it now.

A Brooklyn Hispanic
I was talking with this man from New York today. Turns out he's Hispanic though with his thick Brooklyn accent he said most people don't suspect; not that I really noticed enough to have a thought one way or the other before he mentioned it. We started talking about the recent rally in downtown LA recently regarding the political climate of anti illegal immigration. I heard what he had to say about the issue but as a typical New Yorker he really didn't care much way to hear what I had to say. I mainly agree with what he had to say that there should be more of a crackdown as to employers. And he did bring my attention to the issue of illegal immigrant incarceration; some being held up to a year. Such a thing is atrocious considering that it cost 20,000 a year for taxpayers to incarcerate one person and conditions most of these people are subject to for just seeking a better economic environment; that is obviously a racket if I ever heard of one.
My opinion is that the issue should be tackled from all sides. I say there should be a wall built between the U.S. and Mexico. As he pointed out sure there will be holes poked in the walls and others will dig under it and illegal immigration will continue but the point of the wall is to slow it down. He then pointed out the illegal immigration of Canadians and that no one cares because they are white; but I do and I think there should be a wall built on the border of Canada too. The reason being that is it's actually comparatively easy to get into Canada and sneak across the U.S./Canadian border if your from someplace else in the world, especially if you speak english. With the increased risk of terrorism I think building borders both to the north and south would be a good idea. I also support an increased crackdown on employers; the question is how to do it without Hispanics feeling targeted because they are Hispanic.
But immigration is important to this county and I support increasing legal immigration from Mexico and Latin American as illegal immigration slows down from those countries. I also support legal amnesty if you are able to survive under the radar for ten years or more. It's preposterous to deport people that have blended in so effectively and essentially become Americans. Also there should be amnesty ensentives for whistle blowers that significantly contribute to reducing illegal immigration racketing; especially those involved in criminal activities.

Tech Idea: Pass codes for Phone Numbers
Haven't you ever wanted to be able to freely hand out your phone number without worrying about getting telemarketers or someone that might turn into a phone stalker and run down your minutes?
Well the phone company should support pass codes. Both a large random electronic code with contact into that people can zap between cell phones or during a phone call and simple 5 and 6 digit security codes. Then all you'd have to do is delete the security code and that person could never call you again. You'd never again have to change your number or lose contact with people because you had to change your number.
It's a simple idea and I'm surprised cell phone companies never figured it out.

Myspace Women's Complaints
What the heck is it with women that condem profiles of guys without their shirts on? If you put in the effort at the gym then why not show it off? Ditto for guys that show off their cars. Guys may put a lot of time and money into their wheels. This is myspace, whatever you put your time and effort into is who you are so why not talk about it and put up some pictures?
No doubt at least half the guys are posers whose lives revolve around attracting women, but it pisses me off that women are so conceited as to think that every guy is posturing for them. If I work out a couple hours a day I'd sure as hell post some pictures. Ditto if I saved up and worked regularly on a car, why not display it? Is it really so wrong to have a little pride and show off all you've done and accomplished. Why do you think doctors hang their diplomas on the wall? It's because they have sacreficed and put a lot of time into aquiring it. It's part of who they are.

Justice, Prison, and the Death Penalty
Part of a governments job is to keep society functional and working. We can choose our own paths within our society to the extent of the freedom available within that society. But there are, necessarily, laws that limit our freedom from interfering with freedoms of others. You can not harm other people or take that which is theirs and other laws that compel us to play fair with one another in life. Morality is in the details. The effectiveness and moral competence of actual laws and regulations is beyond my scope here.
Invariably governments, like people, must protect themselves. When there is no governmental power guiding and regulating them then they are like unto people in anarchy and must seek to defend themselves by force. War and violence itself is neither good nor evil, it's the motivation behind it is and that falls upon the realm of ethics and morality.
But the topic at hand is regulating society. When a law is suspected of being broken the matter is brought to a legal authority, namely a court which must decide the merits of the charges. The is no infalable system of justice. Invariably people will be wrongly convicted and punished. It is in fact a citizens duty to bear a conviction no matter if they are guilty or not. All that can be done is too carefully implement and design a fair and accredible system.
I find nothing unconscionable with the death penalty anymore than I do killing in war. It's the circumstances that pertain to it that may be objectionable. Innocent people will be killed, the same as innocent people are imprisoned or otherwise punished. But for the record let me state that while I personally have no moral problem with capital punishment in itself that I find it's use as a deterrent impractical. The time necessary to reasonably determine guilt makes it so. And a lengthy amount of time is necessary because death can not be commuted by appeal unlike a prison term, nor can proper reparation really be made after in the case of wrongful conviction. Furthermore it is just too expensive to be practical and courts do not exist to exact revenge. In order for a death penalty to be useful it would have to be implemented swiftly and but justice is not swift. Indeed such a deterrent is a tool not of justice but rather of oppression. The only place for it is really under martial law and dictatorship when there is no time for proper justice and there are not sufficient facilities and manpower for prisons.
I make objection to a system that does not readily motivate officials to admit their mistakes or that provides compensation for those that have been wrongly convicted and burdened. Another is a prison system in a democracy which does not allow prisoners to vote or later to be elected to political office. For it is those unduly burdened by laws and possibly wrongly convicted that are the ones that have the most motivation to seek to change the system for the better.

Television: Battlestar Gallactica 2005
I must admit that I wasn't particularly attracted to the idea of them remaking this series. I can't recall any good remakes. Better off just to continue it with a new generation. But if your going to change as much of the series as they did and start all over then what they should have done is called it something else.
I don't have a TV and only started watching the series though bit-torrents over the last couple months. I've also been able to catch up on all the previous episodes quite easily though bit-torrents. I must admit now to myself that I am indeed a fan of this new series. I wasn't really sure for quite a while. There weren't any characters I wanted to like, they all seemed to have too many faults. And everyone just seems all too ready to dehumanize the cylon human clones. The way soldiers in all human wars conceive of the enemy as animals as if that in some way justifies cruel treatment. But then one episode caught my attention.
And that episode is "Downloaded". In it we discover that "Caprica Six" is now being haunted by an imaginary Baltar. A counterpart for an imaginary "Caprica Six" that haunts Baltar. And it is possible to see now that there is indeed an invisible hand, for good or for bad, guiding destiny. I'm not sure if the humans are going to find earth. It seems far more likely that the cylons themselves will face an apocalyptic event and the children of both are destined to be the future.
I'll probably be buying the series on DVD now. Though I wish there were an official subscription service that allowed me to purchase the season in advance and legally watch the episodes as they air on the net. I just wish that this show unlike so many others of television history actually has a planned story arc for future years and that it comes to an elegant and complete finish.

Biology: Nucleogenesis
I've read a couple interesting articles recently discussing theories as to how the nucleus of cells evolved. I must say that I support the idea of a viral origin. It seems the most logical though I can't quite see how the recently discovered mimivirus relates to all this except to point out that really complex virus can evolve. But as a central principle I can easily imagine a virus that evolves to take over simple single celled organisms that don't have a nucleus. And from there it's easy to imagine it mutating to become truly symbiotic; such that only reproduces during cell division. And finally from there it's viral envelope evolves into a more useful nuclear envelope. It's quite a startling idea to imagine that we evolved so directly from the ancestral merger of virus and scum. Quite possibly foreshadowing the invention of sex.

Forget Zodiac Signs.
I must admit I do believe that the time of year and seasons do have some modest effect on ones personality but it's not all that. I have yet to see it but it would be far more accurate to list and do searches on the type of car a person has. Both what kind of car you currently have and what you want says a hell of a lot more about you than your sign.

Quantum Computers
There really isn't anything magical about them, in fact it's just a new twist on a old idea. Quantum computers more or less can just be imagined as hyper analog computers. One thing that must be clarified is they really aren't computers so much as a type of arithmetic processing unit. The "computer" part of the processor would just be a conventional digital processor with a quantum arithmetic unit. Analog computers store data in parallel and process that data in parallel. Instead of digital memory just imagine a wave signal that is composed of multiple data streams in different frequency bands. An analog arithmetic operation doesn't deal with signals separately; instead it applies a function that transforms the wave uniformly with the result that the operation is performed on all data sets. So instead of adding 10 sets of numbers separately the operation adds all sets of numbers simultaneously. Quantum computers allow multiple logical and arithmetic operations to be combined into a single operational function. The amount of time it takes to apply any operation, be it simple or vastly complex, is the same. Imagine a mathematical calculation so complex that it would take a computer years to complete. A quantum unit can perform the same operation virtually instantaneously. Data isn't processed so much as it is transformed. The implementations are quite complex and there are multiple implementations but this is the general idea. Now you understand what the hype is about.

Abortion
I believe women should have the right of women to have abortions. I just do not support it's legal establishment under a right to privacy under Roe vs. Wade. Privacy is about information, not actions. That is a plain and simple concept.
I do support an active judiciary. I believe that the court has the jurisdiction to establish what the law is. Not just what is written but to make sense out of it. If all that matters is a literal interpretation of the law then we don't need people and as soon as artificial intelligent machines can be created then we should appoint them. No what we need a human touch to find common ground when the literal law is lacking and the legislature is deadlocked.
If there is any fundamentally implied right then I say it's a right to your own body. But it would take a panel of humanbeings to vet exactly what that means. Obviously abortion would be one such issue. The decision to end your own life would be another. To not have your body violated against your will another.
Right now we are dealing with the issue of abortions but a hundred years from now we will be dealing the right of women to natural reproduction... that is the right to carry a baby at all. For you see in that day and age artificial wombs will virtually guarantee the viability and health of a unborn children. The issue of that day will be what kind of mother would endanger her health and the heath of her unborn child by choosing natural reproduction...

Iran Must Be Pacified
The problem is this f'ing democratic bullshit of Bush's. The Sunni Muslims are the problem. They control the majority in Iraq so democracy will only result in at least half of Iraq if not all of it becoming part of Iran. If we had only installed a pro western dictator to replace Sadam we could have maintained the status quo. But it's too late for that. I can't see how it can be avoided. Iran must be occupied; we are already there and spending billions in the region after all. The only problem is that GW Bush isn't the man to do it; not even his own party likes him. Lets just say it wouldn't surprise me if an Iranian assassin found his mark. It would justify Cheeney seeking retribution for the American people. And no there won't be a CIA operative doing the shooting, it will be a genuine Iranian assassin, they just have to look the other way. Iran can then build all the Mosques and nuclear power plants they want, they will just have to build an American military base next to each and every one of them too. Sure there would be a Muslim outcry but they don't really care for one another. The Muslim world is by and large still just a bunch of squabbling fiefdoms. Each religious ruler looking to keep and protect his own interests. They understand money and power very well. We can not afford to suffer Iran any longer. Let's get it over with. If we're to be war mongers, lets be the best f'ing war mongers we can be.

Chechnya
I don't know why it is but for some reason I am mentally drawn to the problems in Chechnya. Maybe I am subconsciously tuning into all the misery there. The population of Chechnya is about 1.3 million. The chief economy of the region is farming and petroleum processing.
Although Russia is a large country in term of land coverage, only the western portion is hospitable to any significant degree. Everything east of the Ural mountain is commonly referred to as a whole as Siberia, the legendary no mans land, which is more than two thirds of the country. Western Russia for all practical purposes is a land locked country. Every inch of real estate to coastal land on the Black and Caspian seas is vital to the country's economic welfare. Furthermore the southern portion of Western Russia, including Chechnya and it's bordering neighbors is vital farming land.
If Chechnya were to fall, it's likely that other nations in the region, especially coast regions, would follow suit and seek independence. Furthermore Russia has been invaded time and time again over the millennia and it's usually been through the Balkan's or the Caucus mountains. If there were no other concerns, Russia couldn't afford to lose the Region for strategic reasons alone.
For over a hundred years the people in the region have been trying to declare independence. But they just don't get it, it's not going to happen. Stalin back in the 1940 was so concerned about them he deported much of local population to Siberia for fear of them conspiring with the Germans and started ethnic Russian colonization. The ethnic population was later allowed to return.
But after the split up of the USSR the separatist elements couldn't let it go and as a result the civilian population has suffered over the past 15 years. At first they were able to take the region and from what I can tell the Russian authorities let them, both because they already had too much on their plate already, and second to give the separatists time to think. But what the Separatists did was rape and kill much of the ethnic Russian and non Islamic population. They didn't just kill, they imprisoned, raped, tortured, extorted money before they killed. Russia couldn't reason with them ultimately tried to retake the country, trying to use minimal forces and no strategy, got their asses kicked over and over the first few years. But finally the Russians deployed a sizable enough army to retake the country. And what they did after in retribution is what we all don't like to think about. It's what's happening currently although to a lesser extent.
The Russians are repaying the Chechnyan crewlty with their own. Nothing the Chechnyan's didn't do themselves, but just on a larger scale. They detain, torture and cripple men and young boys of fighting age. The men in the military aren't paid much and are encouraged to take whatever they want from the local population in compensation. They hold civilians prisoner and extort money from their family's for release. They imprison, and rape women and young girls as their fancy suits them; the community being Islamic, the women keep quiet because men by course will not take back their wives and daughters if they have been raped.
One story specifically I will mention is a fourteen year old that paid a ransom just to see and speak with her detained mother, instead she was escorted to a cell and gang raped by the guards for hours while all the male prisoners suffered her screams. Just to satiate their desires soldiers will storm a mans house and take one of his daughters away, age mattering very little. These things are still happening to a lesser extent today folks. Again this isn't anything the Chechnyan's themselves didn't do. But women and children don't fight in armies yet it's civilians such as these that are punished. Rape shouldn't be a tool of war, only bullets.
I don't know what Russia is thinking by letting such men do such things when they will eventually have to accept them back into society. Why is death always seen as the worse thing that can happen to a person? Death is a mercy compared to surviving the brutality of war. I feel for those of the Cheneyan people that are suffering right now but they really need to get a clue. They have to take charge and wage war on the separatists. But they won't, and with so few ethnic Russians in the area it is likely that Russia will have to some day wipe their hands of the matter and exterminate everyone in the region. It may be evil to say it, but you don't let those that have suffered you to live. You can't beat a dog and then expect to make a pet out of it.
